Yamunotri

Yamunotri is a famous pilgrimage site located in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand state, which is one of the four dhams of Uttarakhand state. Yamunotri Garhwal is a center of beauty and attraction in the midst of the Himalayas.

Yamunotri is located at a height of 3295 meters, located near the Indo-Chinese border and surrounded by a high peak on all sides. The journey of Yamunotri is first of all in the four Dhams of Uttarakhand. 

Yamunotri is the source of the river Yamuna, and here the goddess Yamuna is a beautiful temple. Goddess Yamuna is the sister of Yamraj ji, who is the god of death. The Yamunotri temple is 7 km away from Janki Chatti, where you have to walk on foot (Trek) to reach.

The actual source of the river Yamuna is at a altitude of about 4422 meters (14,506 feet) at a little distance from the temple, which flows from under the temple. Apart from this, there is a famous Surya Kund near the temple, which is the source of a hot water. In this kund, bind potatoes and rice in cloth, then it cooked after dipping it in hot water, after cooked it can go take home as a prasad.

The Yamunotri temple made was constructed by Maharaja Pratap Shah of Tehri Garhwal. Therefore it is believed that, the date of opening the temple, the priests of the Tehri Garhwal kings are the tell. The Yamunotri temple opens on Akshaya Tritiya in the month of May and closes at Yam Dwitiya (after Deepawali).

Yamunotri's journey is from May to June and September to October months, and due to rains in the months of July to August the journey here is greatly reduced. The mind feels pleasant and calm just to get the glimpse of this holy temple. Yamunotri is an ideal place for those who believe in God.
