It is said that Pandavas had established Mahadev Shankar's Devalaya at this place, in which the idols of Lord Shiva and Pandavas are present. The name Pandukholi is made up of two words, "Pandu" means the father of Pandavas and "Kholi" means shelter. In Pandukholi, a saint named Mahatma Balwant Giri established the ashram.
