Legend has it that King Nala and his queen Damyanti stayed near this lake during their exile. Locals believe that the lake fishes were once cooked and then resurrected back into the water, giving them a distinct black speckled appearance. Angling and fishing are strictly prohibited here to respect religious sanctity.
