Jhula Devi Temple is a famous temple located in Ranikhet. This holy temple is about 7 km away from Ranikhet. This holy temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga. This temple has been named as Jhula Devi. It is said that this temple is about 700 years old. The present temple complex was built in the year 1935. A temple dedicated to Lord Rama is also near this temple. According to mythology, this temple was constructed with the aim of maintaining the grace of the mother Durga in order to get rid of harassment by wild animals living in the area. "Leopard and Tigers", used to attack nearby people and take go their pets. People used to pray to 'Goddess Durga' to protect from dangerous wild animals. It is said that 'Goddess' appeared in the dream of the shepherd one day and told the shepherd that he would dig a special place because Goddess wanted to be made a temple for herself at that place. As soon as the shepherd dug the pit the next day, the shepherd found the idol of Goddess from that pit. After this, villagers constructed a temple at that place and established the idol of the goddess. In this way, the villagers were freed from harassment by the wild animals. Due to the establishment of a Jhula in the temple complex, the goddess is worshipped as "Jhula Devi". The devotees believe that the Mother Jhula Devi fulfils the wishes of the people praying in the temple. The Jhula Devi Temple is one of the main religious centres of attraction in Ranikhet.

Due to heavy rains in the rainy season, it is a bit difficult to travel of here because of heavy rains threatening landslides.
