Dodi Tal is a famous lake located in Uttarkashi. Dodital is a Panna lake surrounded by high mountains at an altitude of about 3310 meters above sea level. This Tal is one of the most beautiful high altitude lakes of North India due to its quiet and beautiful atmosphere. The name of Dodital is named after the rare Himalayan brown trown species of fishes. This lake is one of the very few water bodies, where Himalayan brown trown is found. Dodital is considered a mysterious tal. According to legends, this tal is considered to be the birthplace of Lord Ganesha. This tal is also known as the of Ganesh lake or Ganesh Tal. There is also a small temple of Lord Ganesha near this lake. The origin of this tal, Natural waterfalls and river Ganga are from the source. For Dodital Trekkers, there is no less than heaven. This tal attracts tourists to themselves. Sweet clean water can also be of experienced in this tal. To reach Dodital, 22 km has to travel on foot. This is a beautiful place for nature lovers and trekking enthusiasts. Dodi Tal is one of the main trekking sites of Uttarakhand.

The best time to travel to the Dodi Tal is between from the months of September to November and April to May. Travelling here in these months is the best and enjoyable. During the winter season, the weather of here is cold. Due to snowfall on the surrounding hills in the winter season, the temperature of here goes down very much. Due to heavy rains in the rainy season, it is a bit difficult to travel of here because of heavy rains threatening landslides.
