Surya Kund Yamunotri Uttarakhand

Surya Kund is a hot water source located in Yamunotri, which is near the holy Yamunotri temple. This kund is considered to be the kund of the Sun God. Pilgrims potatoes and rice bind in a cloth, then dip it in the kund and cook, later the cooked rice and potatoes are taken home as prasad. The water of this kund is so hot that potatoes and rice are cooked easily. Surrounded by snow-covered hills, this hot kund has a religious significance. This Kund is a center of attraction in Yamunotri.

Surya Kund is a hot water spring situated at near Yamunotri temple. The sacred town of Yamunotri remains very well connected by road to all the key tourist places in Uttarakhand and outside. You'll find regular buses running to Hanuman Chatti 14 km from Yamunotri.

Best Time To Visit:

The best time to travel to the Surya Kund is between from the months of September to November and April to Jun. Travelling here in these months is the best and enjoyable. In the winter season, the journey of here is closed for 6 months. During the winter season, the weather of here is cold. Due to heavy snowfall in the winter season, the temperature of here goes down very much. Due to heavy rains in the rainy season, it is a bit difficult to travel of here because of heavy rains threatening landslides.
