Chandrashila is one of Chopta's main tourist spots, which is situated at a distance of about 1.5 km from Tungnath temple. Chandrashila is a beautiful summit. It is located at an altitude of about 4,000 meters above sea level. According to mythology, it is believed that on this place Lord Rama had meditated after killing Ravana. According to another legend, it is believed that the moon god has spent time in austerity at this place. Can be reached via trek till here, which starts with Chopta. After reaching this point, the tourists can easily see the snowy peaks of the Himalayas. Chandrashila Trek is one of the most beautiful treks of Garhwal area of Uttarakhand. Due to heavy rains in the rainy season, it is a bit difficult to travel of here because of heavy rains threatening landslides.
