Gun Hill in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand

Gun Hill is a beautiful tourist spot located in Mussoorie of Dehradun District. Gun Hill is situated at a height of about 2125 meters above sea level. It is the second highest peak of Mussoorie, whose holds a historical significance. To tell time to local people before independence, from this hill was fired from a cannon, local people living in this area used to get the time of their clock according to the fire of the cannon. That's why this place was named Gun Hill. At present, the reservoir of Mussoorie is situated on this hill. From here the beautiful scenery of the magnificent series of Himalaya Mountains is appears. Apart from this, a great view of Mussoorie and Doon-valley can be seen from here. This place offers a spectacular view of snowy peaks like Bandarpunch and Srikanta. Gun Hill is about 400 meters above The Mall road, as far by the cable car (Ropeway) can be reached. After reaching here, the tourists enjoy watching the beautiful scenery all around. During the journey to Mussoorie, tourists go to Gun Hill. The Gun Hill is one of the main attraction places of Mussoorie.

Best Time To Visit

The journey of Gun Hill can be done throughout the year, but the best time to visit here is between the months of October to May. Travelling here in these months is the best and enjoyable. During the winter season, the weather of here is cold. Due to snowfall on the surrounding hills in the winter season, the temperature of here goes down very much. Due to heavy rains in the rainy season, it is a bit difficult to travel of here because of heavy rains.
