Shri Ram Rai Gurudwara is a famous Sikh pilgrimage site located in Dehradun. Shri Ram Rai Gurdwara was established in Dehradun in the 17th Century by Ram Rai the eldest son of Shri Har Rai Ji, the seventh Guru of the Sikhs. According to legend, Guru Ram Rai was fired for becoming a Sikh guru and they were forced to leave their original place. So he came to Dehradun and set up his camp in Dehradun in 1676. The Mughal emperor Aurangzeb was very impressed by the miraculous powers of Guru Ram Rai Ji. Therefore, he asked King Fateh Shah of Garhwal to give all possible help to Guru Ram Rai. Initially, a Gurudwara was built in Dhamawala. The construction of the present building of Durbar Sahib was completed in 1707. Shri Ram Rai is an example of Gurudwara Islamic and Hindu architecture.
