Nainital Zoo in Nainital, Uttarakhand

Nainital Zoo is a beautiful popular place located in Nainital. It is situated at an altitude of 2100 meters above sea level. This zoo is known as named of Pt. G. B. Pant High Altitude Zoo. This zoo was established in the year 1984. In the year 1995, this zoo was opened to the general public. There are many foreign and endangered rare species in this zoo. In this zoo, there are many rare species like Snow Leopard, Hill Fox, Siberian Tiger, Palm Civet Cat, Wolf, Barking Deer. This zoo is only 1.5 km from Nainital bus stop. This zoo is spread about 4.70-hectare area. This zoo was established with the aim of preserving wildlife and biodiversity of the mountainous region. In this zoo, there are also species of high-altitude birds like Kalij Pheasant, Lady Amherst Pheasant, Rose-Ringed Parakeet, Golden Pheasant and Red Junglefowl. During the winter season, the weather of here is cold. Due to snowfall on the surrounding hills in the winter season, the temperature of here goes down very much. Due to heavy rains in the rainy season, it is a bit difficult to travel of here because of heavy rains.
